Faststream, an international shipping industry recruitment company, has added a new superyacht arm to its existing portfolio. The plan is for the new division to offer superyacht owners and operators crew for their craft. This role will be added to the work of Faststream's 65-strong team already recruiting in the commercial shipping, marine and offshore industries.

Servicing both its existing and the superyacht sectors will be done through its headquarters in Southampton, UK, and its network of offices in Ft Lauderdale, Oslo and Singapore.

According to Faststream CEO Mark Charman the new activity will bring "a new level of professionalism to the superyacht crewing market and will be applying the same high standards to superyachts that our blue chip corporate customers such as Royal Caribbean, BP and Shell expect in the commercial shipping sector. With the increasing sophistication of super and mega yachts, owners need to know that they are employing the best qualified and vetted crew and should not settle for a second rate and amateur service."

He added: "With highly qualified masters, mates, engineers, 2nd engineers, chefs, stewards/stewardesses and deckhands on our books, we can save superyacht owners time and money."
