Spanish superyacht marina fills up

Vilanova Grand Marina - Barcelona, a new superyacht marina located near Sitges, Spain, is expecting to achieve a 50 per cent occupancy rate in April — one year after its official opening.

As part of a promotional strategy, the marina is offering special berthing conditions for superyachts preparing for the upcoming charter season, particularly those returning from the Caribbean.

"We are making big efforts in promoting the marina amongst captains and yacht owners and are very happy with the acceptance it has had so far," says general manager Ignacio Erroz.

"Our main goal for this first operational year is to show the marina to the market, so 50 per cent occupancy is a great success."

Vilanova Grand Marina - Barcelona offers 49 moorings from 25m-80m (82ft-262ft), with a technical area for refit and repair projects. The marina has recently installed a communications package for superyachts that includes satellite TV, wireless and ADSL Internet, private telephone line and digitally activated service bollards.
