Ghost and Jongert to build 55m yacht
Dutch boatbuilders Ghost Yachts and Jongert Shipyard will cooperate on the build of a 55m (180ft) motoryacht, the G180, created by Gloss Design and based on a fast displacement hull by naval architect Van Oossanen & Associates.
Ghost Yachts unveiled the G180 design at the end of November 2009. Björn Moonen, managing director of Ghost Yachts, says that Jongert was chosen as build partner on the basis of Jongert's modern shipyard and its financial stability.
"The yacht will be built from hull to finish in the same location," said Moonen in a statement.
The G180's hull will be built in steel, while its superstructure will be in aluminium and reinforced composites. A maximum speed of 24kt is proposed with the installation of MTU 20V4000 M73L 2 x 3600kW.
A second Ghost model, the G180V, is currently being finalised, offering a top speed of around 40kt.
