It has been confirmed that the new US$10bn Marsa Zayed development at Aqaba in Jordan will now include superyacht berths within its proposed marinas.

The development — which will the largest real estate and tourism project ever undertaken in the country — will be linked directly to Jordan's only seaport. The marinas will contain at least 350 berths and an, as yet, unspecified number will be for superyachts.

The first phase of the Marsa Zayed development will be completed in 2014.

Attracting more yachts to its short length of coastline is central to Jordan's future tourism strategy and the new marinas will provide international standard facilities for visiting superyachts. Petra, one of Jordan's main tourist attractions, will be within easy reach.
