Construction of the breakwater at the Placencia Marina, Belize's first superyacht marina has been completed. Placencia Marina is the largest fully permitted, government endorsed, full-service marina in Belize.
Opening Winter 2012-13, the marina will consist of up to 293 berths, accommodating vessels from 9m-79m (30ft-260ft). Phase 1 of the 27acre superyacht marina will include 117 wetslips from 12m-67m (40ft-220ft).
Planned marina facilities include a refuelling station, water, sewage, crew-only recreation centre and management services. Marina Village at The Placencia will include a VIP Casino, multiple restaurants, retail shops, world-class spa and boutique hotel.
"Development is progressing and we anticipate a timely launch in first quarter 2013," says Brent Borland, manager of the Placencia. "Our team is dedicated to creating a world-class marina offering an experience unlike any other in the Caribbean."
