Amels conpletes eight-month Ilona refit
Amels has completed an eight-month refit of 74m (243ft) Ilona, which the Dutch shipyard launched in 2004.
The motoryacht has undergone a major redesign of her interior and superstructure to include a 10m x 3m swimming pool with a movable floor, and a helipad large enough to accommodate the owner's Agusta 109 Grand helicopter.
"Ilona's refit was a big project that needed completing in a short time, but we finished it as promised," says Amels managing director Rob Luijendijk. "Having looked through the original construction plans, we did everything possible to minimise Ilona's time at the yard.
"We enjoyed the engineering challenge of modifying the superstructure so that it could handle the maximum take-off weight of the 3,200kg helicopter. It's a great credit to everyone who worked on the refit that it all came together so smoothly."
