Atlantic Refit Center takes on 72m Norna conversion
Atlantic Refit Centre (ARC) has begun major conversion works to turn 72m (236ft) Scottish patrol vessel, Norna, into a commercially rated explorer superyacht capable of visiting the most extreme destinations.
ARC will manage the entire project at its facility in La Rochelle, France, utilizing a number of local subcontractors.
Conversion works will include a new steel superstructure with a helideck, accommodation for 12 guests and 21 crew, full electrical- hydraulic-, and mechanical overhaul, and installation of two new MTU 500 LW generators.
There will also be an extensive class survery on shaft lines, propellers and rudder, full overhaul of main engines, and a blast back to steel with the application of semi-faired Hempel Pro Finish paint to the hull and superstructure.
The project is due for completion in June 2013
