Transas awarded Coast Guard contracts

By IBI Magazine

The first Transas Navi-Sailor 2500 electronic chart system has been ordered by the Hellenic Coast Guard to be fitted on board a new Fast Patrol Boat. This multi-million Euro project includes equipping 16 Lambro 57 PB Class III Fast Patrol Boats with Transas systems. The vessels will be built by Motomarine SA, the major GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) shipbuilder for the Hellenic Coast Guard.

Transas claims to be the first Professional Chart Systems supplier for the Hellenic Coast Guard, following assistance from Eline - AJ Karageorgis Marine Electronics, Transas' agent in Greece.

According to the contract, Transas will supply 17 Navi-Sailor 2500 systems with 20" TFT colour displays, of which one unit will be installed in the Coast Guard laboratories, for service purposes. The electronic chart system Navi-Sailor 2500 will be delivered with a RIB (Radar Integrator Board), Transas Navtex receiver, and a complete Mediterranean chart folio with a two year subscription for chart corrections. The agreement includes installation of all the electronic equipment and training of the crew and technical staff on Eline's own ECDIS simulator, which is in operation in their office.

In addition to this order, Eline has recently been awarded another contract for Transas electronic chart systems. The Transas Navi-Sailor 2400 ECDIS has been chosen by Israel Shipyards to be fitted on board the three new Offshore Patrol Boats for the Hellenic Coast Guard. The systems will be procured with a complete navigation and communication package.
