Manson completes Mirabella V contract
By IBI Magazine
Anchor manufacturer Manson says work has finished on the anchors for Mirabella V, currently being built at Vosper Thornycroft in London England for Joe Vittoria. At 246ft she is the largest single masted yacht in the world and has been designed specifically for chartering. The 600kg and 400kg anchors are claimed by Manson to be the world's largest stainless steel ray type anchors ever fabricated and will sit vertically in the specially designed bow section. Together they were the result of over 500 hours work. Taking over a month to complete there was a great deal of time spent achieving the mirror polish finish. In all over 100lb of Stainless Steel was ground off the anchors. The anchors were tested to DNV Classification Standards using a specially designed harness. Manson has also announced the appointment of two distributors. In the UK Superyacht Docs headed up by Tony How will be promoting Manson Products and will continue to do so throughout the winter at various boat shows. Sailtec in Germany has been signed on as European distributors for Manson Stainless Steel Anchors. Based just out of Hamburg, Sailtec will initially look at growing the retail and OEM sectors of the Manson range.
