Superyacht marina planned
By IBI Magazine
A new superyacht marina is set to open this year at Tarragona, 50 miles south of Barcelona, close to the Balearic Islands. The holiday town is to undergo a series of improvements over the next few years with the marina the first project to be carried out. The land surrounding the Marina will be changed into a residential area with the construction of new houses and large green areas fronting the sea. International Marina Tarraco will have three docks (Muelle de Costa, Muelle de Levante and Muelle de Lerida), and a capacity for 90 yachts of lengths between 30m-120m, with a waiting key for vessels of up to150m. With a harbour depth of 9m mooring facilities can be offered to the largest yachts. Muelle de Costa will be the first dock to open in Autumn 2004. The 24,000 sq m commercial area should be ready in 2005 and will be placed in Muelle de Lerida and Muelle de Levante. Muelle de Lerida will feature commercial units mainly for the superyacht chandlery businesses, and lockers, to keep the yachts' toys. Muelle de Levante is going to be reserved for offices for brokers, yacht services companies and superyacht shipyards. The Leisure area will offer an auditorium and a hotel with 40 rooms. A large shopping area with restaurants, pubs, mini-market, taxi stop, cash point machines, limousines service and car rental is also planned.
