Evinrude E-TEC named engine of the year

By IBI Magazine

The new Evinrude range of E-TEC outboard engines from Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) has received the 2004 Engine of the Year Award on behalf of Motor Boats Monthly, which held its annual awards ceremony at the Design Museum in London recently.

"When we introduced the Evinrude E-TEC family here in the UK we hoped that the industry would be as excited about the low emissions, low maintenance and fuel economy of the engines as we were," says Paul Francis of BRP distributor Jets Marivent. "This award proves that our excitement was justified and we can only hope to build on this success with the new E-TEC V6 range."

Launched in 2004, the E-Tec range offers no dealer-scheduled maintenance for three years, and is said to have a quiet signature sound and outstanding fuel economy. It is also fully compliant with the EU's Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) 2006 and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) 3-star. The range also comes with a three-year factory warranty.

Evinrude E-TEC engines are available in 40hp-90hp versions, as well as the new V6 range of 220hp, 225hp and 250hp outboards that were launched at the Schroders London Boat Show earlier this month.
