Linssen upgrades Maasbracht yard
By IBI Magazine
Dutch boatbuilder Linssen Yachts has announced that it will invest Euro 2 million in a major building project at its Maasbracht shipyard in the Netherlands this summer. According to a press release, the group is to build a new set of blasting cabins and spray booths in order to improve its preservation system. It also plans to overhaul the building that houses its existing booths and cabins, and will expand the overall site with sheet pile walls and concrete structures. The work is expected to be completed this autumn.
"The 20m x 9m x 8m cabins have an air circulation of 150,000m3 an hour, 150sq m of filter surface, 1,000mm x 1,000mm air ducts, 16,000mm-long extractor ducts, and 7m x 7m mega doors," says Linssen. "The noise and emissions levels are extremely low. The advanced energy efficiency (for example owing to smart recirculation techniques) will ensure that the systems more than meet the strictest standards for occupational health and safety, energy efficiency and environmental protection."
Founded in 1949, Linssen builds steel and fibreglass motoryachts under the Grand Sturdy, Dutch Sturdy, Linssen SL and DS brand names, and offers a selection of used boats from the Linssen Collection. With an annual turnover of around Euro 25 million, the company claims to build around 50 Grand Sturdy boats per year. Its flagship model is the Grand Sturdy 500 Variotop Mark II, a 14.9m (49ft) motoryacht that was launched in 2002.
