Hunter Marine launches new flagship model
By IBI Magazine
Hunter Marine in the US has announced the launch of its new flagship model — the Hunter 49. With an overall length of 14.9m (49ft), the new boat is designed to be a high-end passage maker for extended offshore cruising. It replaces the popular Hunter 46, which has sold more than 250 units since its introduction back in 1997.
"Driving the 49's new hull is a specially engineered sail plan that achieves maximum efficiency while maintaining the Hunter trademark of single-handed sail-ability, which is a great feature for a boat of this size," says the company.
Components include Hunter's mainsheet traveler arch, backstayless B & R rig, a battened full roach main sail, and two headsail options: single self-tacking jib or self-tacking staysail with overlapping jib. A dual-ended mainsheet allows adjustments from both the cockpit and companionway, and all sheets and halyards end at the cockpit.
Hunter Marine, which is part of the Luhrs Marine Group, has facilities in Alachua, Florida and East Lyme, Connecticut, as well as in Portland, England. The company distributes sailboats from 2.7m-14.9m (9ft-49ft) in more than 46 countries throughout the world.
