New Zealand motoryacht builder the Sensation Group has announced its further expansion into the Asia-Pacific region.
Sensation Singapore, a new state-of-the-art production facility in Singapore, is scheduled to open in 2008. Working in conjunction with the Singapore Government Economic Development Board (EDB), the group has secured a significant waterfront holding with immediate deep water access that will allow it to develop a complex capable of producing motoryachts from 18m to 40m (59ft-131ft).
As part of the venture, a research and development facility will be launched, which will also benefit other commercial interests in Singapore. Sensation Singapore will also provide training to captains and crew of any vessel produced by the Sensation Group.
Paul Sills, Sensation Group managing director, said: "This announcement signifies Sensation's growing commitment to production in the Asia-Pacific region and is the result of two years' work on behalf of the Sensation Group and the Singapore Government Economic Development Board."
"We have been astounded by the level of support Sensation has received from the EDB. Sensation is greatly encouraged by the level of interest our expansion has generated in the local Singaporean business community. The extent of opportunity that Singapore presents for the development of our business is unparalleled given Singapore's unique location in the market both geographically and strategically."
Once the facilities in Singapore are in production, Sensation will have three facilities in the Asia-Pacific region producing vessels from 18m to 80m (59ft-263ft).
The expansion into Singapore has been strategically designed to complement Sensation's Australian and New Zealand shipyards.
