Barton Marine buys Wincher tooling rights

By IBI Magazine

UK deck hardware manufacturer Barton Marine has acquired the tooling and distribution rights for The Wincher, a specially designed rubber moulding that fits over a conventional winch to make it self-tailing.

When the line is sheeted under load, the coils climb up the drum and are then gripped by the underside of the rubber body. When the sail is trimmed, cleating is achieved by locking the line into the ribbed groove of The Wincher.

"We have been a supplier of The Wincher for a number of years as we feel the product is synonymous with the Barton brand," says Paul Botterill, director of Barton Marine. "It offers a quality solution for use onboard sailing boats at a cost-effective price."

Barton Marine, which is based in Kent, produces more than 1,000 different products for use on sailboats from small dinghies and keel boats through to yachts of up to 16m (52ft). The company was founded in 1949.
