Reed to debut Vienna Boat Show in 2007

Reed Exhibitions Messe Wien will present the first international boat show with a focus on central, eastern and southern Europe in Vienna, Austria, this year.
From November 22-25, the MessezentrumWienNeu will host international and national shipyards and dealers, aiming to provide a platform for all aspects of water sports.
"Leading exhibitors [support] us in our plan to start a new era in the history of boat and watersports tradeshows in Austria," said Matthias Limbeck, managing director for new business and CEE (Central Eastern Europe) at Reed Exhibitions Messe Wien.
"The existing, quite regionally-set, shows in Austria and neighbouring countries do not suffice anymore. The time is right for a boat and watersports tradeshow of trans-national format. This fact has also been underlined by the broad acceptance of our concept within the industry itself. The list of exhibitors that have already confirmed their [attendance] reads like a 'Who's Who' of the boat [and yacht charter] industry," he added.
Among those who have confirmed their participation at the show are Boatic Yachting (Sealine, Nimbus), Bootsbau Schmalzl, Boesch Motorboote and Schöchl Yachts (Sunbeam). Key international players in the industry have also shown an interest in the show, which is anticipated to draw more than 360,000 visitors. They include Bavaria Yachts, Bénéteau, Elan, Grand Soleil, Leers Yachting, Mayer Yachts and Yacht Charter Pitter.
The new show in the capital will be an addition to the established Boot Tulln, which ran from March 1-4 this year and will continue in its current annual format. The Vienna show, organised by Reed Exhibitions Messe Wien in association with Salon Nautique Paris, Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show and Hanseboot Hamburg, will therefore be held in November to avoid any clash.
"We believe Vienna to be the ideal location for an international boat show. Austria and the growth markets in central and eastern Europe are in need of a worthy presentation in an ideal infrastructure. The Vienna Boat Show is the perfect chance," said André Leers, managing director of Leers Yachting in Bad Aussee.
Due to high demand amongst exhibitors, show organiser Reed has had to reinforce its exhibition team for the Vienna Boat Show - appointing Harald Novotny to the role of exhibition manager. He will work closely with Walter Huber from the company's new business department, and Eva Szekeres will take on the role of exhibition co-ordinator.
