Saertex expands Saerbeck headquarters

By IBI Magazine

Saertex has expanded its production and storage space at its headquarters on the Schulkamp industrial estate in Saerbeck, Germany.

With an additional 18,500sqm (1991,000sqft), technical textiles of glass, aramid and carbonfibre - known as non-crimp fabrics (NCF) - will in future be produced in a total workspace of 33,500sqm (36,0600sqft). NCFs are used primarily in aircraft industry components (Airbus) and in the automobile, boat/ship and wind energy plant manufacturing and construction industries.

The building work has now finished earlier than expected following the very mild winter this year.

"We're a global player now," said company founder and managing partner Bruno Lammers. "We could have expanded in the US or India, but several factors favoured Saerbeck." These include short decision paths as well as well-trained and highly motivated staff. About 350 skilled employees currently work at SAERTEX's main works in Saerbeck.

More than 500 people work for the company worldwide and the expansion of the home works is seen as an opportunity for additional recruitment of staff.

With locations in Germany, France, the US, South Africa and India Saertex has expanded since the late 80s into a leading global enterprise in developing and producing multiaxial interlaid complexes made of high performance fibre.
