Japan International Boat Show closes

By IBI Magazine

Around 46,125 people attended this year's Japan International Boat Show, which ran for the first time ever at the Convention Center Pacifico in Yokohama from March 15-18, 2007, resulting in a 25 per cent increase over the number of visitors in 2006.

Organised and promoted by the Japan Boating Industry Association (JBIA), and formerly known as the Tokyo International Boat Show, the event attracted some 221 corporate and institutional distributors, the largest in the show's 46-year history.

Exhibits included the latest boat models and a wide range of marine-related information, as well as the show's first ever large-scale floating exhibit area at the nearby harbour facilities. Events included a talk show with three-time America's Cup winner Russell Coutts, and other events relating to marine safety, education and environmental issues.

Next year's Japan International Boat Show will be held at Pacifico Yokohama and the Minato Mirai area from March 6-9, 2008.

(30 March 2007)
