Garmin opens new headquarters in UK

By IBI Magazine

Garmin (Europe) Ltd, a leader in satellite navigation and GPS technology, opened its new European headquarters in the UK last week in order to further support its marketing and distribution efforts in Europe.

Located at Hounsdown Business Park in Totton, Southampton, the new 155,000sq ft facility is set on 12 acres of land and includes more than 129,000sq ft of warehouse space.

"The move into our new European HQ in Totton in Southampton is a reflection of how popular Garmin satellite navigation systems are," says Garmin's EMEA general manager Sean Biddlecombe. "There has been a massive increase in demand across Europe. By relocating to a bigger, better office we're able to meet that demand more effectively."

According to Garmin, Southampton was the ideal choice for its new European headquarters as the company has been based in Hampshire since its first UK office opened in 1992. Garmin has since grown and developed in the area.

With offices in the US, Europe, and Taiwan, Garmin manufactures, distributes and markets a range of products for the marine and other markets, most of which are GPS-enabled. The company employs more than 3,000 staff worldwide and has more than 750 engineers researching and developing new ideas and equipment. Its products are available in over 50 countries.
