Sealegs gets UK order of NZ$1 million for 15 amphibious craft

By IBI Magazine

New Zealand-based Sealegs International said in a statement that its UK distributor has confirmed an order for more than 15 amphibious boats, valued at more than NZ$1 million. The company said the transaction brings its current order book to over 100 boats.

"It's pleasing to see sales in the UK growing at a rate exceeding 50 per cent per annum," said CEO David McKee Wright in the statement. "The UK market has accepted the amphibious boat concept and being here listening to what potential customers have to say about Sealegs is extremely encouraging."

Nick Fox, managing director of Sealegs' UK distributor, Amphibious (UK) Ltd, said the new Sealegs 7.1m (23ft) model has gained advanced orders, even without being on display. "I don't know of any other boat in the world that could achieve that," he said in the statement.

The 7.1m will attempt to set a world record for the fastest crossing of Cook Strait by an amphibious craft next month.
