Hendy to distribute bio-diesel engines
By IBI Magazine
Hendy Power, the engineering division of UK motor giant the Hendy Group, is to begin distributing the Lister Petter Alpha series of marine engines from 20hp-45hp. The two, three and four cylinder engines are capable of running on up to 100 per cent bio-diesel and are available overseas with an oil-rig capable of producing 400lt per hour from vegetable oil.
"The engines have been extensively tested at Lister-Petter's Gloucestershire base on a range of fuels derived from a range of bio-crop oils from rape seed to palm oil," says the company. "This makes the new Alpha LPWS one of the most fuel-flexible engines in the world and they will run reliably on a wide range of fuels, which is why they are so popular with military applications and in poorer countries where fuel quality varies but reliable operation is vital."
The engines are available in both heat exchanger (Alpha) and keel cooled (Canalstar) versions with Newage PRM, Technodrive and ZF gearboxes offered as standard options together with a variety of panel, electrical and installation options.
