ThyssenKrupp sells off Nobiskrug yard

By IBI Magazine

ThyssenKrupp Technologies is selling its Nobiskrug shipyard in Rendsburg, Germany to Guernsey-based Eagle River Capital for an undisclosed sum.

Nobiskrug, a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), generated sales of around €81 million in fiscal 2006/2007 and employs some 400 people. The yard focuses on the construction of mid-size superyachts, in addition to providing refit and repair services.

Eagle River Capital, which is based in Guernsey, is part of a conglomerate that focuses on the production and sale of ship components. It also offers engineering services and commercial facility management.

ThyssenKrupp says that the sale is effective retroactively from October 1, 2007 and is subject to supervisory approval.
