VEP acquires minority interest in Jongert

By IBI Magazine

Dutch superyacht builder Jongert has announced that Value Enhancement Partners (VEP), a privately owned investment and management firm based in Amsterdam, has acquired a minority interest in the yard with immediate effect.

The availability of new capital will allow Jongert to invest in the future and fully exploit opportunities in the motoryacht segment, which it re-entered with the launch of the 2900 MY at the 2006 Monaco Yacht Show.

According to Jongert, a "number of setbacks" during the construction of the yard's new facilities in Wieringermeer and a temporary shift in the superyacht market has moved the yard into "somewhat turbulent waters".

"We are convinced that this new influx of capital will fully regain the confidence of the market," says CEO and majority shareholder Jan Jongert.
