Ekomarine signs distribution deal for Finland

Swedish paint company Ekomarine has signed a deal for the distribution in Finland of its non-toxic boat bottom paint Neptune Formula via Finnish company Aquastore.
The paint was introduced onto the Swedish market at the Gothenburg International Boat Show in February 2008 and is produced using a patented technique to prevent marine fouling without using toxic substances.
Managing director of Ekomarine Claes Tarras says that the paint has performed better than expected in the first quarter.
"Neptune Formula is already distributed to twice as many dealers in Sweden than we planned for. The interest of the paint is mainly based on the fact that many boat owners are looking for an environmentally safe alternative for antifouling," says Tarras.
Ekomarine uses by-products from the agricultural and forest industries in its antifouling products, which it claims offers a less wasteful substitute to traditional toxic and hazardous products.
