New shareholder announced for Scorpion RIBs

By IBI Magazine

British RIB marque Scorpion has announced that Mr Patrick Byrne has today confirmed a major financial stake in the Lymington-based RIB manufacturer.

Byrne's plans for Scorpion include helping the business to develop and expand its manufacturing output as well as the sales and marketing aspects of this well established brand.

Scorpion's managing director, Graham Jelley, commented, "As well as the company being set to benefit significantly from his extensive business experience and funding, Patrick and Scorpion are old and trusted friends and as such I can't think of a better partnership to help take the brand forward to the next level and beyond."

Patrick Byrne is the owner of the first Scorpion Sting, the new 10 metre sports cruiser that is being launched at RIBEX (9-11 May, Cowes, Isle of Wight). His own ribbing achievements are many and varied, having participated in the 1999 Round Britain Rally in an 8.1 metre Scorpion and undertaken long-distance cruises to the Arctic Circle and around Ireland in an original 10 metre Scorpion sports cruiser and he still owns the first Scorpion Pioneer.
