Nordic Tugs receives export award

By IBI Magazine

Nordic Tugs, a US manufacturer of tug-style trawler yachts, has received an Export Achievement Award from the US Department of Commerce in recognition of the company's successful move into foreign markets.

Nordic Tugs spent one year working to receive CE approvals for three of its models — the Nordic Tug 32, 37 and 42 — in order to export the boats into Europe. In June 2007, the company signed its first European dealer, Nordic Tugs UK Ltd, and made its European debut at the Southampton International Boat Show in September.

In less than one year, the European market now accounts for around 10 per cent of Nordic Tugs' annual sales.

Headquartered in Burlington, Washington, Nordic Tugs builds classic tug-style yachts from 9.8m-16.5m (32ft-54ft). The company says that it is currently researching additional overseas opportunities and recently signed its first dealer in Russia.
