DuroMarine sees sales boost
By IBI Magazine
US-based boat manufacturer DuroMarine says that sales of its aluminium fishing boat brand Duroboat will have increased by at least 33 per cent on last year for the first half of 2008.
The increase was led by the supply of work boats to a major dam building project in Laos, a pick up in sales in Canada, and shipments to a new distributor in Russia, where Duroboat will be marketed under the private label Quickline.
DuroMarine says that current US demand for all boats is sluggish, but the firm expects demand for light aluminium to increase as boaters opt for lighter, more efficient boats.
The company is also seeking opportunities to work with rescue and relief agencies to deploy emergency boat supply to coastal disaster areas. Duroboat offers self-contained boat assembly factories in a shipping container, which can begin producing 20 or more boat and motor combinations within hours of dispatch.
DuroMarine is based in Washington and builds Duroboats from 5052 corrosion resistant aluminium.
