Norwegian nautical clothing brand Helly Hansen has won a red dot design award for its shoe collection Odin and the shoe Kikut 3.
The Odin collection won the quality prize for excellent design and quality. Both Odin and Kikut are designed for maximal functionality, with targeted customers including rescue workers and mountain guides.
Across three prize categories, 203 products from more than 51 nations took part. The awards ceremony will be held on June 23 at the Essen Opera House in Germany.
"To have experience in making functional clothing for some of the toughest circumstances like oil rig workers and the military helps us create even better products for demanding customers," says Bosse Langaas, global marketing director at Helly Hansen.
Established in 1877, Helly Hansen is distributed in more than 40 countries. The privately owned company had a turnover of NOK1.41 billion in 2007.
