Torqeedo nominated for startup award

By IBI Magazine

Torqeedo, the Germany electric outboard manufacturer, is one of three companies to be nominated for this year's German Startup of the Year award, as chosen by the committee of the Deutscher Gruenderpreis. It is the first time that a company from within the marine industry has made the shortlist.

"The nomination of Torqeedo is a great recognition for all those who have made the success of Torqeedo possible," says Torqeedo co-founder and managing partner Christoph Ballin. "With this, I do not only mean our 25 employees in Germany and the US, but especially our outboard-customers and our trade and distribution partners from 30 countries."

Torqeedo was nominated for its fundamental improvements in electric propulsion. In addition to applying the latest technologies to create superior solutions, Torqeedo founders Christoph Ballin and Friedrich Boebel were also recognised for their perspective on market opportunities and their international approach.

The main prize will be awarded to one of the three nominated companies on June 17 during a celebration in Berlin, Germany.
