US Coast Guard chooses Fortress
By IBI Magazine
Fortress Anchors has revealed that the US Coast Guard has chosen its anchor model FX-37 for use on its new 13.7m (45ft) aluminium-hulled boat, which is due to enter production in September.
The newly designed vessel is called the Response Boat-Medium, or RB-M, and will replace the US Coast Guard's current 12.5m (41ft) utility boat. A total of 180 are planned for production at a cost of around US$2 million each.
"The US Coast Guard has been using our product aboard their 41ft, 87ft, and 110ft patrol boats for many years, and we were very pleased to learn that the model FX-37 was chosen to be the anchor aboard the new RB-M," says Fortress spokesman Brian Sheehan. "This anchor has been well battle-tested previously by the Coast Guard and by pleasure boaters alike, and we fully expect that the FX-37 will perform superbly on the RB-M as well."
