Hanse completes expansion programme

By IBI Magazine

Production has commenced at HanseYachts' new facility in Greifswald, Germany following the completion of a major expansion programme designed to increase capacity at the yard.

In the past 24 months, the German boatbuilder has invested some €31 million at Greifswald and at its subsidiary company, TTS, in Goleniow, Poland. In total, more than 20,000sq m of production space has been constructed for GRP forms and the final assembly of larger series yachts. Moreover, control system software and machinery are now state-of-the-art as well.

"Efficiency and the automation of the production process have been increased by collaborating with the consulting firm of a large German auto manufacturer," says the company. "An additional production line enables quicker incorporation of new developments in series-line assembly."

Founded in 1993, HanseYachts is said to be one of the fastest growing yacht producers in Europe. The company builds sailing yachts from 9.5m-19.2m (31ft-63ft), as well as motoryachts under the Fjord Boats brand. In March, Hanse also purchased the Moody brand from the UK's Premier Marinas.
