Mad Mariner poll results revealed
By IBI Magazine
Mad Mariner, an independent online resource for boaters, has announced the results of its nationwide boat owner poll in the US. The independent poll queried 200 male and 200 female boat owners on a broad range of topics ranging from the full impact of fuel prices to the role of women in the sport.
The Mad Mariner Poll found that 45 per cent of respondents said they will go boating less often because of the cost associated with filling their tank, and 32 per cent said they will take shorter trips. Some 43 per cent said they delayed launching their boat this year, while 18 per cent reported fuel prices led them to consider buying a different boat.
"The Mad Mariner poll is a unique effort to measure the pulse of the boating community by asking boaters themselves about their feelings, perceptions and activities," said Glen Justice, founder and editor of Mad Mariner. "This is independent and unbiased information, and we are happy to share these valuable results with the boating community."
The 30-question poll was conducted for Mad Mariner in June 2008 by Mountain West Research Center, an Idaho-based polling firm, using secure surveys delivered and completed online. The sample size was 400 and the margin of error was plus or minus five percentage points.
