2008 Istanbul Boat Show cancelled

By IBI Magazine

This year's Istanbul International Boat Show, which was scheduled to run from October 22-27 at Marinturk City Port in Istanbul, Turkey, has been cancelled, according to show organiser NTSR. The show is Turkey's only member of the International Federation of Boat Show Organizers (IFBSO).

"The reason for the cancellation is that the grand opening of the brand new Marinturk marina is postponed due to a problem with construction deadlines," NTSR managing director Serkan Tiglioglu told IBI. "Therefore we had to cancel the show at the marina."

Traditionally held each year at the Istanbul Expo Center in February, the 2008 edition of the show was pushed back to October while the new venue, Mainturk marina, underwent construction. It was due to be completed by June 2008.

The next show to be held in Turkey will be the 2009 Eurasia Boat Show at the CNR centre in Istanbul, which is organised by CNR Ekspo Trade Fairs and is scheduled to run from February 13-22.

NTSR says that it intends to organise another in-water show in Istanbul later in 2009.
