New LED light manufacturer to enter marine industry
By IBI Magazine
Lumitec, an LED light manufacturer based in Delray Beach, Florida, said that it will be entering the marine industry with a range of lights. The company said in a statement that it will be showing over 500 styles at IBEX. "We had extensive conversations with several boat manufacturers to find out what they really wanted in a lighting partner," said Lumitec President John Kujawa in the statement. "Obviously quality and value are paramount. Where we really saw the opportunity to differentiate ourselves was in offering a bow-to-stern lighting solution with a cohesive look and feel." Kujawa, an engineer with 20 years of experience in the high-tech and marine markets, said his LED fixtures are designed specifically for boat use. "Our LED fixtures enable an engineer or designer to select a look, or 'theme' that complements the overall style of the vessel," said Kujawa. "Within each theme, they can select individual luminaires which meet the lighting needs of a specific onboard location." Kujawa said his R&D facilities include a full electrical lab, rapid prototype lab with complete machine shop and extensive metal fabrication equipment, and a salt-spray chamber. A 100,000-sq.ft. distribution and assembly center of Lumitec's sister company is located in Warminster, Pennsylvania.
