Marine business latest stock price review

• Brunswick reports that its previously announced initiative to downsize the company has been accelerated due to "extraordinary developments" in the global financial markets. Brunswick said it will close three US Marine plants permanently, and "mothball" its facility in Navassa, North Carolina. The closures would result in the elimination of 1,450 jobs.
• Raymarine CEO Malcolm Miller steps down from his position after more than five years with the company.
• West Marine reports a 4.4 per cent drop in net sales for third quarter ended September 28, 2008. Same-store sales were off by 4.7 per cent.
• Garmin International signs letter of intent for the proposed acquisition of Sportmanship International AB, the distributor of Garmin's consumer products in Sweden.
