Whale Water wins top design award

By IBI Magazine

Whale Water Systems has received an innovation award on behalf of the Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) for its Whale Twist Deck Shower, which was also shortlisted for the 2007 DAME Award at METS. The awards were held in the Mansion House in Dublin in October.

The Whale Twist Deck Shower boasts an integrated handset incorporating shower temperature and flow controls. A rubberised end cap creates a splash-proof seal when stowed, so there are no covers or lids to damage, and no leaks into the locker area below. The lightweight unit with rubberised end cap will help prevent damage to the gel coat if dropped. The range includes two housing options that are mountable on either flat or curved surfaces virtually anywhere on deck.

"Back in October 2006, whilst walking around Miami Marine Trade Show, it was obvious that no design flair had been put into the humble deck shower. From that point on, it became the company's mission to create a truly innovative and world beating product," says managing director Patrick Hurst. "The result two years on is a product with seven international patents which has the potential to dominate the market."

Whale Water Systems designs and manufactures water and waste products including manual and electric freshwater and waste pumps, Quick Connect plumbing systems, faucets, showers and accessories. The company supplies some of the world's largest power and sailboat manufacturers, and has a worldwide distribution to retail network.
