Cannes closes on 'positive note'
By IBI Magazine
Industry professionals were 'satisfied and reassured' by the contacts and sales made at the 32nd Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show, which ran from September 9-14.
The south of France event welcomed 57,000 visitors, 14 per cent down on last year's total. Organiser FIN, the French marine industry federation, says that the number was nevertheless a strong turnout for the show.
FIN says exhibitors at the show reported 'useful contacts', 'promising requests for information' and even some new orders, encouraging a 'certain amount of optimism' for the upcoming season.
Cannes reflected the increased investment in R&D by boatbuilders during this challenging period with the presentation of 185 new models at the event.
Organised by FIN and Reed Expositions France, the Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show welcomed 468 exhibitors including 152 newcomers to 95,000m2 of exhibition space.
The next edition of the Cannes show will run from September 8-13, 2010.
