Visitors up at Scandinavian Boat Show
By IBI Magazine
The Scandinavian Boat Show in Stockholm, Sweden, closed on Sunday after a four day run with a visitor count up 5.4 per cent on last year, despite low expectations.
Many exhibitors reported better sales than expected as 31,060 visitors attended the show.
Thomas Sandberg, project manager of the Scandinavian Boat Show, says: "It's fantastically positive for us. In all we had approximately 120 boats on the floor. Of the many sailboats all major brands except Bénéteau on the Swedish market were represented, but there could have been more motorboat brands."
Magnus Rassy, managing director of Swedish boatbuilder Hallberg-Rassy Varvs AB, says: "I don't want to mention any absolute figures, but we have every reason to be very satisfied with this show. It's a short and intense boat show where we, in previous years, have signed many deals directly after the show itself."
Golden-Cut, a new motorboat built in a classic retro style using both GRP and wood, got a lot of attention. Richard Granberg at Golden-Cut AB says: "We had maybe 10 serious proposals about buying our boat and we had talks with customers not only from Sweden but from Denmark and Switzerland."
Niclas Sjögren from Arronet aluminium boats has seen steady sales for more than a year: "We've had stable sales during the latest year and I'm pleased. We sold four boats at the show in Stockholm, of which two were to brand new customers."
Nimbus Boats got a lot of media coverage for its E-power model, a Nimbus 27 Nova S with an electric engine connected to an ordinary Volvo Penta DPH stern drive. Marino from Finland won the Boat of the Year award with its Marino APB 27 (All Purpose Boat).
The Scandinavian Boat Show ran from November 4-8 at Stockholm International Fairs and Congress Center.
