Emocean in joint venture to boost boatbuilding

By IBI Magazine / David Robinson

Abu Dhabi-based Emocean Marine has announced a new joint venture agreement to build a new range of yachts in association with its partner Italian marine company Gruppo InRizzardi. This new development follows the signing last year of a deal between the two businesses for Emocean to distribute InRizzardi craft in the Gulf region.

The new agreement will see both parties investing to expand Emocean's existing manufacturing facility at Industrial City in Abu Dhabi with the first of the new yachts being completed next year. This new facility will start by building the Emocean Charm 27. This new design Emocean describes as "a pocket yacht" in being optimised for space and including two cabins and a living area with "a full range of high-end facilities." Emocean's 27ft Voodoo design marketed under its BAT brand in the European market is also being promoted through InRizzardi as a tender unit for superyachts.

Commenting on the 27ft Charm yacht Hamad Kassab Bachi, CEO of Emocean Marine said: "The Charm 27 has all the features of a yacht, but which are unique to the size of this boat. It is a first of its kind marine product in the region that was proudly conceptualised and built in the UAE." In a further move Emocean is offering its technical expertise to other locally-based boatbuilders. "Some of these are our competitors," said Bachi, " but we believe that growing the UAE's yachting industry together and competing globally as UAE manufacturers will benefit us all in the long run."
