Sales up at Norway International Boat Show

The mood at the ongoing Norway International Boat Show in Oslo is positive following its first weekend, with sales up despite a drop in attendance.
Organiser Norboat suggests that an important skiing event in the Oslo area running concurrently with the boat show has weakened attendance over the opening weekend.
"Visitor numbers are a bit down," Erlend Prytz, CEO of Norwegian marine federation Norboat, told IBI at the show on Monday. "But sales are up and people are feeling positive."
"Business has been much better than expected," said Sølve Drageseth Refsnes, head of Norwegian motorboat builder Saga. "We already sold two 31s. Our clients are generally older and tend to be more cautious with their spending, so this really is a good sign."
"It's a positive show," said Finn Høge, sales director at Kellox, a representative for Honda Marine and Norwegian boat brands including Hansvik and Pioner. "So far the visitor numbers are down maybe 10 per cent on last year, but activity is up so there are in fact more sales."
The Norway International Boat Show — also known as Sjøen For Alle — runs from March 12-21. Last year 190 exhibitors and 41,085 visitors attended the show.
