Nautor names new CEO
By IBI Magazine
Finland's Oy Nautor Ab, manufacturer of the Swan range of sailing yachts, has appointed Luciano Scaramuccia as the group's new CEO. Scaramuccia served as managing director of Nautor from 1998-2003, overseeing the initial modernisation programme put in place when Italian businessman Leonardo Ferragamo bought the company in 1998.
The appointment comes at a busy time for Nautor. Earlier this month, the company launched the first of its German Frers-designed Swan 80s and three more units are now in production. The new Swan 110 is also progressing well, while the Swan 130 is ready for the market and will take its place at the head of the fleet.
"We have used this difficult time, which seems to be coming to an end, to invest for the future of the company," says Ferragamo. "We have actively worked in the development of new models, the optimisation of the organisation and the restructuring of the industrial process aimed towards efficiency, reliability and quality. We are now encouraged from important signs of recovery from the market and concrete results."
Nautor will continue to be active in its efforts to improve marketshare and prepare for the completion of global recovery.
"Like many major brands we have been encouraged by the enthusiasm in Asia for our products and their core values," says Ferragamo. "There is increasing activity in several less mature sales regions and for this reason Nautor's Swan has recently opened sales agencies in China, India and South Korea. We have just sold the first Swan in India."
Nautor's Swan builds high-performance sailing yachts from 13m-40m (42ft-131ft). The company was founded by Pekka Koskenkylä in 1966.
