Alexseal moves US operations
By IBI Magazine
Alexseal Yacht Coatings, a division of German paint pioneer Mankiewicz Gebr & Co, has moved its US operations from St Louis, Missouri to Charleston, South Carolina. A newly renovated 24,000sq ft building in Charleston now serves as a state-of-the-art lab, as well as a production, technical training and warehouse facility.
"We have had a presence in Simpsonville, South Carolina for nearly 15 years and are excited to be able to expand our US operations in this region," says Michael Grau, president and CEO of Mankiewicz Gebr & Co. "By expanding in South Carolina, we will strengthen our North American market presence and operate in a strong and business-friendly environment."
The new Alexseal facility incorporates a lab for product development and colour matching, a modern spray booth for testing and training, wire-guided forklifts to reduce order pull times, Cat-6 Gigabit Ethernet wiring throughout, and enough surrounding land to more than double production.
The move is expected to result in much faster shipments from Germany through the Charleston port of entry, as well as decreased delay for shipments to the US west coast via direct access to the southern trucking routes, closer proximity to the hub of their US customer base, and better resources for employees.
