British marine technical apparel specialists Henri Lloyd has launched a new range of elite technical products for Land Rover BAR, the British Challenger for the 35th America’s Cup. The new range is result of a partnership with marine hardware specialist Spinlock.
The kit worn by the sailing team incorporates the latest in fabrics, design and new technologies which allows the sailing team the flexibility, agility and comfort to focus on winning whilst also providing the protection required when racing in the extreme inshore racing environments of the America’s Cup, where boat speeds can reach up to 50mph, resulting in the chilling effect of constant high apparent winds combined with a deluge of very fast moving spray.
Commenting on the new kit, Land Rover BAR crew member Nick Hutton says: “Crew equipment and performance is a critical part of our R&D process, so a close relationship and good communication between the Spinlock and Henri Lloyd developers and the sailing team has been vitally important in the product development process. We’re really happy with the new Spinlock BAR T2 vests and Henri Lloyd technical apparel.”
The new Spinlock BAR T2 vest focuses on four core design elements that have been identified by the team, including flotation, impact, aerodynamics and fit.
