The number of nominations is up by 30% as judges now work on shortlist

Nominations are finally in for this year’s Boat Builder Awards, held in association with Raymarine. The number and quality of entries is testament to the advances the industry has made since the last full edition of the Boat Builder Awards which was held at the National Maritime Museum in 2019.

Back where the BBA belongs - this year’s event returns to the National Maritime Museum

With close to 30% more entries this year compared to the pre-Covid BBA ceremony, each of the 10 award categories is well represented and reflects the widest international involvement yet, spanning six continents with entries from existing major players, smaller builders and exciting start-ups. The judges are now working through the nominations to arrive at a shortlist of potential winners – look out for further announcements in the week beginning Oct 10.

“In previous Boat Builder Awards, there have been categories in which obvious winners have stood out early on. However, the 2022 line-up looks to be the most hotly contested yet and is sure to cause some heated debate among our panel of experts” said chair of Judges, IBI editor Ed Slack.

“Every category shows evidence of the deeply seated inventiveness and talent in the boatbuilding and allied sectors. Despite the current economic, energy and supply chain challenges, this is an industry clearly with its eye set on getting up for whatever the future might present.”

It is fitting that after two momentous years of upheaval, the industry’s premium gala dinner and networking event returns to its symbolic home of the National Maritime Museum in the heart of Amsterdam. In recognition the event organisers are pulling out all the stops to ensure this is the biggest and boldest Awards ceremony yet.
