US marina owner buys New Engand Boatworks for undisclosed sum

Safe Harbor Marinas in the US has purchased New England Boatworks (NEB) in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, bringing to 80 the number of properties the Dallas, Texas-based company owns in 18 states and making it, the company claims, the “largest and most geographically-diversified owner and operator of marinas in North America.”

NEB offers over 360 deep-water slips and is known for building state-of-the-art sail and power yachts.

“We already had a robust presence in Narragansett Bay with five locations; NEB gives us a sixth,” the statement quotes Jason Hogg, senior VP of investments for Safe Harbor. “NEB is one of the most renowned boatyards in the country, and it will be a cornerstone for our boaters in Narragansett Bay. We’re also very excited about growth projects already permitted and expansion opportunities we intend to pursue at this unique property.”

No terms of the sale were disclosed.
