German propulsion specialist Tognum AG has appointed Michael Haidinger as its chief sales officer, effective July 2012. Haidinger will also succeed Peter Kneipp as a board member.

In his new role, Haidinger will assume responsibility for the engines and onsite energy business units in addition to the global distribution and service business, duties currently being performed on an interim basis by Joachim Coers, chairman of the Tognum executive board.

Born in Austria, Michael Haidinger has worked in various international companies in the aerospace industry, including DASA, Fairchild/Dornier, Airbus, and Eurocopter. In 2006, he joined Rolls-Royce where he has been responsible for directing the company’s global activities with business jet engines and is dealing with a large portfolio of customers.

Commenting on the appointment, Joachim Coers says: “With Michael Haidinger, we have acquired an extremely experienced manager with many years of success on an international level, who is currently responsible at Rolls-Royce for 3,500 employees at six plants in Germany, the UK and both North and South America. With his help, we will continue to implement our growth strategy at Tognum in a consistent and systematic manner.”

Haidinger, who is currently president of Rolls-Royce Deutschland and a member of the Supervisory Board of Tognum AG, will step down from both positions to take on its new role in Tognum.
