Four boatbuilders have made the third shortlist, this time in the Boat Builder International Distributor/Dealer Development Award, sponsored by Lumishore, one of six awards being presented at the inaugural Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement, to take place on November 18.
Riviera, Brunswick Marine (EMEA), Azimut and Axopar all impressed the judges for a variety of reasons. Notably, in the past 12 months Australian builder Riviera has embarked on a bold global dealer expansion, opening offices on the west and east coasts of the US whilst appointing new dealers in Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Hawaii and Panama.
It was Brunswick Marine (EMEA)’s targeting of new and emerging markets in its development of its Quicksilver dealer network that also garnered praise. The number of non-EU countries where Quicksilver is sold has increased from five in 2010 to 17 last year, being retailed in such far-flung places as Algeria, Congo, Kazakhstan and Mauritius.
The judges felt that Finnish brand Axopar was also an award contender given the rapid development of its dealer network from a standing start over the past 12 months. It now has dealers in 20 countries and is planning another 10 countries for the 2016 season.
Finally, the judges were also impressed with Azimut Yacht’s recent dealership network growth in Thailand, Indonesia, creating dedicated offices with a strong brand identity. They noted Azimut’s effectiveness in establishing permanent presences in emerging markets via dedicated sales and support offices.
The winner of the Boat Builder International Distributor/Dealer Development Award will be announced with other category winners at the gala dinner at the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam on the night of November 18.
