Portosole Sanremo is at the heart of an ambitious £100m-plus investment strategy aiming to make the marina-shipyard facility a world leader in superyacht accommodation and maintenance within the next five years
The return this year of the MYBA Charter Show to its original venue at Portosole Sanremo has marked an auspicious turning point for the Italian Riviera harbour and its bold superyacht ambitions.

“Portosole Sanremo is not just a tourist marina,” explains Giorgio Casareto, Portosole Sanremo’s CEO. “It is a complete service for the owner – a shipyard dedicated to the management and maintenance of large yachts.”
INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT
The state concession for the management of San Remo’s port infrastructure – and the rights to redevelop it – are now owned by the UK investment group Reuben Brothers, along with Portosole Sanremo. The group’s latest plans include an ambitious five-year £100m-plus investment strategy that will see the complete renovation and upgrading of the marina and shipyard facilities.
“When the work is completed, Portosole Sanremo will be the most important marina and shipyard facility in the entire Mediterranean for large boats, not only in terms of size and capacity, but also quality,” insists Casareto.
SHIPYARD CAPABILITIES

Portosole Shipyard is the latest acquisition by the investment group, bringing it into the heart of the overall Portosole Sanremo complex.
“The shipyard has a long history, so it has a vital responsibility to continue developing this type of business,” says Porosole Shipyard site manager, Emiliano Martino.“ The yard can accommodate boats up to 100m, and in terms of dry docking can haul out and accommodate boats up to 60m.”
“We’ve been fortunate enough to work on and host some very important yachts of historical value, such as Kingdom, the 85m Benetti-built superyacht on which we carried out major metalwork. We’ve also had a 55m Palmer & Johnson in for a complete repainting operation that was carried out in accordance with the timetable promised to the owner and to the full satisfaction of the crew and the customer.”
“In addition to this, we are moving forward with other activities afloat. Fortunately, the spaces are more than 90 per cent full, which is an indication of the extremely high quality we are able to offer: a quality we focus on sharply; a quality that derives from the highest possible levels of craftsmanship.”
“Following the activities already carried out in recent months, we are moving forward with important projects involving the complete repainting of several boats, the reconstruction of certain parts, and customisations requested by our boat owners.”

MYBA CHARTER SHOW
This year, Portosole Sanremo was chosen as the venue for the MYBA Charter Show, marking 35 years exactly since the very first show was staged in there in 1990.
More than 80 yachts, up to 70m, lit up the docks, with 1,800 visitors attending – including more than 700 brokers and central agents, and 67 exhibiting companies.
“The MYBA Charter Show will make Portosole Sanremo a vital destination once again for large yachts, as well a being starting point for charter activities and regular crew changes,” says CEO, Giorgio Casareto.
The MYBA and Portosole Sanremo have signed a three year contract which will see the event remain in Sanremo until at least the year 2028.
BROADER ASSETS
Portosole Sanremo also recently entered the world of fuel distribution by taking over the direct management of the port’s fuel distributor. The investment group also owns the Hotel de Paris – an historic four-star hotel located in the city centre on the seafront, with 29 rooms.
