Lagoon has announced a new sport top version for its 450 and 52 models. The new design offer an attractive alternative to the flybridge versions.
The sport top design features new rig with lowered boom, steering position on coach roof bulkhead with all controls to hand, integrated helmsman’s seat and direct access from the deck and the cockpit. The French catamaran builder has also revised interior layouts for even more space and comfort.
The Lagoon 450 and 52 models are the result of the collaboration between the architects at Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), the Italian Nauta Design agency and the Lagoon design department.
The decision to locate the mast further to aft directly comes from the designers’ racing experience and has many advantages on a cruising catamaran:
- A large forward triangle allows a larger sails choice: a promise for great performance
- The shorter boom makes the mainsail much easier to maneuver
- The mainsail, which is relatively narrower and higher, benefits from better winds at the top, thus enhancing performance
- By re-centering the weight in this way, pitching is considerably reduced
French catamaran builder has announced that Lagoon 450 S will be on display at La Rochelle and Barcelona boat shows, whilst 52 S will be showcased during the event in Cannes, Genoa, and Barcelona.
