Next year’s event will be held at its original site at The Viaduct Basic and Te Wero Island

After 20 years, the Auckland On Water Boat Show will return to The Viaduct Basin and Te Wero Island in 2019, the NZ Marine Industry Association announced today.

Events manager Stacey Cook said that the return to where the show started 20 years ago is fitting tribute to the success of New Zealand’s largest on-water boat show.

“We are excited to be able to provide a world-class venue for the 2019 show and will be offering more on-water space and similar space on land for exhibitors,” she says.

The 2018 Auckland On Water Boat Show, which runs from September 27-30, is the last time the show will be held at the Viaduct Events Centre, as Team New Zealand will be taking over the site as its America’s Cup base.

They have already taken occupancy of the top floor and will be moving into the remainder of the Events Centre immediately after the show.

The MIA has been working hard planning for 2019 and beyond, and securing the new show site at The Viaduct Basin and Te Wero Island.

The on-water space will take on a whole new look, with custom berthage being built especially for the show, large marquees and even the possibility of a two-story temporary building.

Some of the outdoor space around the Viaduct Events Centre/Team NZ base will remain and probably be used to display trailer boats.

The 2019 show will be held around the same time in September.
